STOP, India, a nonprofit located in Delhi, India, focuses on the eradication of Trafficking and Oppression against Women and Children. Prof. Roma Debabrata founded this movement back in 1990.
STOP conducts rescue operations and provides safe accommodations, trauma counselling services, medical assistance and legal aid for the victims. STOP also provides self-help groups and training programs to assist the survivors in gaining access to employment opportunities.
HOW STOP WORKS
PREVENTION
STOP strongly believes in creating safe spaces through its intervention in community and legal domain which can help prevent instances of violence towards women and children.
RESTORATION & REPATRIATION
18 girls have been repatriated in the last year. Out of the 18; 13 girls were from Bangladesh who were trafficked to Hyderabad for commercial sexual exploitation and 5 girls were British Nationals who were repatriated and reintegrated successfully to their families.
CAPACITY BUILDING
Capacity Building works on both aspects at STOP; Preventive as well as Curative. While the Social enterprises are a large examples of creating scope for financial capacity. besides, the enterprises. the organization conducts numerous workshops and programmes with professionals from various fields for capacity building.
RESCUE
STOP has been proactively involved in organizing and conducting rescue mission for children who have been trafficked. Alongside the help of the police, the members of the organization under guidance of the founder president Prof. Roma Debabrata carries forward rescue mission.
REHABILITATION
Young women (ages 19-24) from these adopted communities were awarded educational scholarships through STOP. In 2017, three women were awarded with the scholarship. These scholarships enabled them to pursue degrees in Nursing, Mass Media and Primary Teacher Training.
MISSION
The mission of STOP is to promote the establishment of an egalitarian society through the political, social and economic empowerment of victims of trafficking and violence, helping them in their journey of victims to survivors and ultimately, to agents of social change.

Organizes and conducts rescue operations for the victims of human trafficking from different and highly exploitative situations

Provides survivors with appropriate and safe accommodation, trauma counselling services, medical assistance and legal aid

Assists in the repatriation and restoration processes of foreign and Indian citizens who have become victims of trafficking

Supports and encourages children of vulnerable communities and survivors of violence to engage in formal and/or non formal educational services as well as in professional and vocational training sessions

Creates women’s self-help groups to empower and assist the survivors in gaining access to employment opportunities

Advocates for the improvement of legal policies about issues related to its fields of activity

Advocates for a safe environment and educates the young and adults for a self-reliant society, making women more vigilant and to break the supply channel of human trafficking at the grass root level of vulnerable migrant majority areas
Achievements
STOP functions on two scales; Curative and Preventive. Whereas curative work by the organization helps the girls following the rescue, preventive endeavors of STOP has created a large network of at-risk community areas and still only working to make the network larger to help eradicate Human-trafficking from its roots. Following are the few achievements over the years.

Job Training. STOP provides job training for the rescued victims. Some of these women are currently operating a catering service. There is also a newly upgraded tailoring shop with training provided by a professional tailor

Nursing and Healthcare Training. We provide access to our MCN Healthcare learning system to teach basic nursing education for those who are interested in jobs in healthcare.

Repatriate Girls to Their Homes
Funds are for Transportation, Documents and a Chaperone to accompany the girls to their destination. Cost per girl is $400 USD per girl. All donations go towards this always ongoing project.
